Pre-Litigation Paralegal
You’ll manage your own caseload of pre-litigation cases, from the day a client signs until the demand goes out. For most of our clients, this is their first injury claim. You’ll be the person they talk to, the person who explains what comes next, and the person who speaks up for them inside the firm.

What you will do
- Meet with new clients early and tell them what to expect over the coming months: how the process works, how long it takes, and how to reach you
- Return client calls, answer their questions, and bring in the attorney when a question needs legal judgment
- Start the investigation within the first couple of days, including police reports, 911 calls, photos, preservation letters, and sending our investigators out for video
- Contact the insurance carriers, find out who else may be responsible, and get the policy limits and any additional coverage
- Check in with clients about their treatment at least once a month
- Keep your files complete and organized, and document every conversation
- Take calls from potential clients when intake needs help and the attorneys are tied up
- Help clients understand settlement offers once the attorney has reviewed them, and introduce them to the litigation team if their case is filed
How we work
- Intelligent Effort. The client on the other end of the phone is having one of the worst years of their life. Treat every call that way, the twentieth as much as the first.
- Honesty. If a deadline slipped, a client stopped treating, or you made a mistake, tell us that day. Nobody here gets in trouble for raising a problem early.
- Ownership. The file is yours, and so is the result. “I sent the request” is an action. “The report is in the file” is the outcome we care about.
What we are looking for
- You’re calm and kind on the phone, especially with people who are hurting or stressed
- You finish what you start. When a task is yours, it gets done.
- You can manage a caseload and set your own priorities without someone checking on you
- You pay attention to details and write things down
- You’re comfortable learning new software, including AI tools
- You take feedback well
Personal injury experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you have the right instincts, we’ll teach you the rest. Spanish is a plus too.
We look for people who follow up without being reminded, who ask the second question, and who tell us early when something is wrong. This work rewards persistence more than polish.
What you get
- A culture we take seriously. We run on intelligent effort, honesty, and ownership, and we’re not going to hire just anyone to fill a seat. Raise a problem early here and nobody gets in trouble for it.
- A playbook on day one. We spent this year getting everything that lived in people’s heads written down, so you’re not learning the job through a game of telephone. Structured training, clear expectations, regular check-ins.
- Good tools. Trial presentation tech and AI built into how we actually work, with training on how to use it right.
- Pay and benefits. Competitive pay, bonus eligible, medical and dental coverage with a substantial employer contribution, 401(k) and cash balance retirement plans, and paid time off and holidays.
In office
This is a full-time, in-office role at our St. Louis office. You’ll work alongside the attorneys, the other pre-lit paralegals, and our intake team, so help is never far away.
All work is performed under attorney supervision.
